Stolpersteine (German for “stumbling block”) is a project of the artist Gunter Demnig.

In Karlsruhe and some smaller towns around, these memorials remind of the people killed by the Nazis, because they were Jews, members of the resistance during World War II, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christians in opposition and disabled people.
