Karlsruhe from the Turmberg

The Turmberg (English: tower hill) is a hill located in Durlach, a district of Karlsruhe.

Since 1888, the Turmbergbahn transports people to the hill.

Turmberg castle

A castle was build in the 11th century and the tower itself was build between 1230 and 1250.

The tower of the castles ruin can used as a vantage point. You see Karlsruhe, the Rhine valley and the Vosges in France on clear days. South of the Turmberg you can see the Black forest.

Inside the tower are steps, there is no lift. The entrance is free, on the top is a monocular telescope with coin slot.
